YOGI (ASCETIC) AND BHOGI (ONE WHO ENJOY WORLDLY PHYSICAL PLEASURES) In Gurubani (Sikh Scriptures), it is asserted that a man, among the kings is the King; among yogis, He is the Yogi. and likewise , among ascetics, He is the Ascetic; among householders, He is the Enjoyer. Among the kings, He is the King; among yogis, He is the Yogi. (Raj menh Raj, jog menh jogi). Among ascetics, He is the Ascetic; among householders, He is the Enjoyer. (Tap menh Tpisar, Grehsat mein Bhogi). Again one can have all sorts of physical joys with money earned by working hard and by honest means. (“Udham kreaindia jeo tun, khawndian sukh bhunch.)” NOTE: Sikh scriptures are bracketed here and are originally written in Gurmukhi alphabets; adapted like Sanskrit Alphabets. (MS) DISILLUSIONED DERVISH It could be possible that people who leave family and household to become dervish or recluse are infatuated by God or something mysterious. By the time, these recluse souls realize that their impulsive infatuation towards overwhelming divinity forces was either wrong or farfetched, they are often helpless to correct the situation. They face societal taboos to return to the normal life. There is no returning back to the society. The realization to them either comes too late. By this time the dervish becomes physically weak, disoriented or too useless to cope with the norms of the society, they left. They often die, unsung, heartbroken, and disillusioned somewhere in desolation; all alone. What a way to go ! (MS)
