YOU ARE WORTHY BECAUSE YOU WERE SLAIN “And I beheld, and, suddenly, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as he had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.” (Revelation 5:6) The Lamb appeared before God and before the heavens as he was slain: This means Jesus Christ appeared just the way he was on the cross, having his pierced hands, feet and sides. Therefore, the Lamb appearing as he was slain means the Lamb appearing with the same wounds he had when he was pierced on the cross with both nails and spear. Those wounds are now some of his greatest treasures and strength besides the seven horns and seven eyes which are his seven Spirits: For it is by those wounds he now appears in heaven as the Lamb who was slain. He became the only one who is worthy in the entire universe, because he bears the marks of his wounds and piercings on the cross as the Lamb who was slain: As it is written, “And they sung a new song, saying, “You are worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for you were slain, and has redeemed us to God by your blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And has made us to our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” (Revelation 5:9-10) The Lamb who was slain, means Jesus crucified: Whenever I mention Jesus crucified, know I am referring to the Lamb who was slain. Throughout the book of Revelation, he appears and is known as the Lamb. The main reason he appears as the Lamb is to show his nature in his wounds or suffering on the cross: We will always see him as the Lamb who was slain, so long as he bears the marks of his wounds and piercing which he had on the cross. 1. The obedience he learnt through suffering and death, made him to acquire the wounds as Jesus crucified (Hebrews 5:7-9); 2. His wounds as Jesus crucified, makes him appear as the Lamb who was slain (Revelation 5:6); 3. Him as the Lamb who was slain makes him the only one worthy to take the scroll from the hand of the Father and to open its seven seals, which no angel or creature has ever touched or opened before according to (Revelation 5:1-14); 4. Him as the only one worthy to take the scroll and to open its seven seals, makes him worthy to receive power, kingdom, dominion, glory, riches, honour, adoration, might, strength, reverence, worship, blessings and all things (Revelation 5:12). As it is written, “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.” And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying, “Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sits on the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.” (Revelation 5:12-13) Therefore, it is the obedience he learnt through suffering that made him perfect (Hebrews 5:8-9) – meaning Jesus Christ became perfect by those wounds and sufferings he had (Hebrews 2:10) – meaning his sufferings and wounds as Jesus crucified, made him the only one who fully obeyed God in all his will – meaning as the one who alone fully obeyed God, his is the only One who is worthy to take the Scroll from the hand of He who sits on the throne, Who lives forever and ever: Yes it is by the obedience of One man that many are made righteous (Romans 5:19). “You are worthy because you were slain…………..” (Revelation 5:9-10). “I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” (1 Corinthians 2:2) – Behold the Lamb of God, as He was slain.
