YOU CANT WIN, WHEN YOU PLAY WITH SIN. . . I ran across the following illustration and I thought it to be absolutely clear and concise and thus on target in its depiction of the sure danger of dabbling with Sin. A bald eagle, while hovering above in the air to which he belonged and in which he was ideally suited, spotted the fresh carcass of a dead seal laying invitingly atop a block of ice which was floating slowly in the water. Leaving the place for which he was ideally suited, the eagle swooped swiftly down upon the block of ice and began to feast upon the carcass as though it was a banquet prepared especially for him. Looking up though, he noticed that the block of ice on which he had landed and upon which was his meal was moving directly toward the waterfall. No matter though he thought. With a wing span that measured nearly eight feet and powerful legs with which he he could leap unbelievable heights, he continued feasting on the carcass, rendering the clear danger ahead with its imminent threat of a sure death to be of no consequence to him, confident that at the last minute, and just before the ice plunges over the waterfall, he could easily escape. With his belly now full, the eagle looked up and saw that he was only moments away from the waterfall. Spreading those eight-foot wings and bending his powerful legs in a leap that he knew would take him to safety, the eagle, to his absolute surprise and horror, did not move. Beating his wings frantically and pushing himself upward with his powerful legs, the eagle still did not move. Within another second, he plunged over the waterfall to his sure death. Beloved, what the eagle did not realize was that while he was eating, the water which was splashing about atop the ice on which was he and his carcass, landed upon his talons (feet) and froze them up, locking his feet to the ice as though feet and ice were one and as hard as he tried and cried, he could not free himself from the ice nor could he lift it up out of the water. Can I therefore ask you to please not be as the eagle? Dont dabble with sin and for Gods sake, put no confidence whatsoever in whatever ability you may think you have to overcome sin on your own. You have none and it cannot happen If you continue TO PLAY WITH SIN, YOU CANNOT WIN!. One of the saddest commentaries of a life dedicated to sin I have ever heard and at the same time, one of the greatest tributes to the sure danger of Sin I have ever heard emerges from the life of the same man. His name was Samson. Hear the very sad testimony of how he lost out to sin through the lost of the most precious thing in his life - his calling and commission from God. And he awoke out of his sleep [with Delilah] , and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he knew not that the LORD was departed. (Judges 16:20) Beloved, YOU CANT WIN, WHEN YOU PLAY WITH SIN! Be blessed!
