YOU CAN’T HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT TOO! Many economic advisers - TopicsExpress

YOU CAN’T HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT TOO! Many economic advisers of PNoy are not too happy over the turn of events re the stock market. But in fairness, I think it was the NEDA chief that was more circumspect about the unprecedented 7%+ growth rate that we had the grand opportunity to savor these past two weeks. He was quick to remind all that this figure has not been successful in creating the jobs our country needs so badly to start the economy on the right foot. The hosannas were everywhere within the halls of supporters and fans of PNoy, and I would understand that – as who in his right mind would not join the bandwagon? Thankfully there are some minds in the PNoy team that do not belong to the Yes chorus. But this slowing down of the stock market is also a reason for another sector to be happy about. The OFWs remittances will yield more for the recipients, while the exporters will not really mind [maybe could be happy too] about a sliding peso. Which brings me to my point that one cannot have it all – that tradeoffs rule - will always rule. There is also a saying that goes, “imperfections make perfection complete,” or something to that effect. Or, there can never be a perfect human being. Elizabeth Taylor, one of the most beautiful creatures to grace our planet was considered perfect, that is, if her other physical features were not taken into consideration. She was rather short, and did not have nice legs as her biographers have mentioned. But while she was not perfect in a number of aspects, looking at that face was enough for most to conclude that indeed, she is the perfect beauty for all time. And so once again we are reminded that you can have your cake but for one reason or another, you cannot eat it….. [may be you are suffering from stomach cramps or LBM!]
