YOU JUST WISH YOU HAVE A TRAVEL INSURANCE! Flights cancelled as typhoon heads to Philippines Travels to and from the Philippines are advised to check their flight schedules as more than 50 services into and out of the capital Manila have been cancelled. A strong typhoon is heading towards the city, said the Foreign Office, which could force even more cancellations over the next couple of days. A number of Philippine Airlines inbound flights from South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong have been grounded due to bad weather caused by tropical typhoon Glenda. PAL and local airlines Cebu Pacific Air and TigerAir have cancelled domestic flights between Manlia and Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Caticlan, Naga and Legaspi in the Philippines. The typhoon is expected to hit Manila by Wednesday morning, according to the local weather agency. Residents in low-lying and mountainous areas have been warned about flash floods, landslides, and storm surges. Flooding can also be expected within Metro Manila, especially near Manila Bay, the Pasig River and Laguna de Bay, the FCO warned this morning. Glenda is expected to make landfall in the Albay-Sorsogon area on Tuesday night and pass through Camarines Sur, Quezon, Laguna, Rizal, Metro Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga and Zambales. Forecasters say the typhoon will continue west toward Zambales and is expected to head out into the South China Sea by Wednesday night. Forecasters are not yet sure if Glenda will head to Hong Kong after crossing the Philippines, but the city has been warned to expect a weekend of rain and wind Tuesday, July 15, 2014
