YOUR CHARACTER AND YOUR FUTURE Our lives are built on a very important foundation called CHARACTER. Whatever a man will become in future is largely determined by his character. In my view, character is more important than talents or gifts. Why? Your gifts can only take you to a height your character can sustain. Talents can take you up, but it is character that keeps you up. Your future is at the mercy of your character. An African proverb says: “As the carpenter builds the house, the house also builds the house.” Have this understanding, whatever it is you have formed as a habit, it has a toll on your destiny – it is either adding to you or depleting the good in your future. Your character is the prophecy of your future. The future is shaped by today. Consistent diligence must produce greatness. What you keep doing greatly contributes to your future. Success is never a surprise, neither is success a gift; success is the natural outcome of diligence, hard-work, consistent growth and passion for excellence. Who you are in the time of crisis reveals who you really are. How you talk to your superiors and leaders when you are under pressure reveals your real value for them. Real character is exposed in adversity. Despite the pains Jesus was going through on the cross, He kept on saying: “Not my will but let the will of my LEADER be done.” Your real value for authority forces itself out of you when pressure come calling. Integrity, diligence, self-discipline, saving and investment culture, respect for leadership, commitment to biblical principles, value for the counsel of the wise, unbroken fellowship with the Holy Spirit, and sincere love for others are some of the very vital habits we must develop to achieve uncommon success in the world.
