YOUR DRY PIT What is your dry pit today? Your dry pit could be sickness, poverty, barrenness, hatred, just name it. Whatever it is – it is pain and suffering. Anything that constitutes discomfort is pain and suffering. As a Christian, your pain and suffering serves to keep you for a new level in life. Let us look at the case of Joseph. Joseph was kept in the dry pit and then, sold as a slave in order to have a new level in life (Genesis 37:12-28). In Potiphar’s house where Joseph was enjoying, he was not overexcited at the happenings around him rather he saw his purpose of life beyond the enjoyment (Genesis 39:1-9). So also, our purpose of life sees beyond the pain and joy we receive. While Joseph was in the prison, he did not murmur instead he resigned himself to fate (Genesis 39:7-23). That is, he saw the situation as an act of God. If he had not been thrown into prison, he would not have met the person that would take him to the throne (Genesis 41:37). Therefore, the lesson to be learned from the life of Joseph is that your situation may be to keep you for a new level in life, it may be to keep you for the challenges ahead or it may be to strengthen your desire for Jesus Christ. So, don’t let your dry pit get you down. Keep pressing in Jesus’ name and in His time.
