YOUR HELP IS NEEDED NOW PLEASE! Normally congestion and bad driving behaviour tends to happen on a Wednesday and/or Friday afternoon when both Farmor’s School and the Primary School finish at the same time. Bad weather also usually contributes to bad behaviour and bad congestion. However, today the pandemonium at the School Crossing reached an all-time high! • Cars were parked on the white H marks. • Cars were reversing actually on the Crossing where small children have to walk. • The Crossing was completed blocked by cars and buses for SIX minutes and no pedestrians or children were able to cross safely. • It was impossible to have two-way traffic because of the cars parked down Leafield Road. • This meant that other vehicles had to drive on to the Crossing and on to verges to try to get past parked vehicles. • Unnecessary and unacceptable verbal abuse from some drivers to the School Crossing Patrol Officer. This situation is getting worse and worse on a daily basis and something needs to be done to rectify if. Following a meeting last week with the School Heads, Governors, Highways, Police, Glos County Councillors, Fairford Town Councillors, it is apparent that there is no quick fix due to finance; more pressing needs elsewhere in the County; lack of land for overflow parking and resources in general. WHAT CAN YOU DO ABOUT THIS?
