YOUR INPUT IS IMPORTANT: The Tower-Soudan Historical Society is considering acquiring the Old Fire Hall, also known as The Rec Center, on Main Street in Tower. This building has historical significance as it is the oldest public building north of Duluth still in existence today. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and because of that status, is eligible for preservation grants. The Old Fire Hall is an important asset to the Tower-Soudan community. The Tower Soudan Historical Societys intention is to preserve the structure to house the Ahrens steamer pumper, for expansion of the historical museum and to take advantage of traveling museum displays. The unique space could also be used for community purposes such as renting to small businesses as well as those providing services for children and seniors. At this time the Tower Soudan Historical Society is interested in receiving public input for information about past uses including photographs. All photographs will be returned to owner. They are also interested in your ideas for future uses of the space in the building. Please send information about your recollections about past uses of the building and your ideas for future uses of the building to their email address below: tshistory@accessmn or call Ann at 218-753-6060. YOUR INPUT IS VALUED AND APPRECIATED! THANK YOU !
