YOUR pet ends up at the Lost Dogs Home. It doesnt have an ID tag or microchip. Guess what? Youre not getting youre pet back apparently even if youve rung them and advised youve seen your grandmothers dog on the Wyndham Councils Found website.....and because it was a Sunday and they are about to close... and because you couldnt get there until the next day....your pet is dead. Why didnt the staff member who the granddaughter spoke to put a note on the kennel where Fonzie was that a possible owner was coming in the next day to identify him? A shelter with compassion and caring would have done so. But no... the call dismissed as not important, Fonzie euthanased the next morning. Dr Tribe said the incident was a lesson for all of us to register and identify our dogs better. This statement speaks volumes about the culture at LDH from the top down.... LDH playing the blame game again instead of taking responsibility for the vunerable pets that come into their care. He defended the organisations of the reported handling of the widows dog, Fonzie. In the case of Fonzie, where we held onto Fonzie for 10 days I think, because Fonzie was unidentified, unregistered, didnt have a tag or a microchip, so we couldnt contact the owner, he said. I think the owner contacted us on the ninth day - just before we were closing I think it was a Sunday - and unfortunately couldnt come in to see if we had the dog, we didnt know we have their dog because it was unidentified. Then by the time they did get in, the dog had been put down. It appears Dr Tribe doesnt really know the full details as he thinks this happened and that happened. Why doesnt he know for sure for such an important duty of care violation?
