YOUTH ARRESTED: (From NT Police) Territory Duty Superintendent Daniel Shean reports that: A 13 year old male and a 14 year old male are in custody today following great work by General Duties Police and Strike Force Trident officers. On Friday night (18 October 2013) / Saturday (19 October 2013) morning, there were a number of residential premises that were unlawfully entered in the suburbs of Nightcliff and Woolner. There were also a number of motor vehicles stolen; one motor vehicle was a BMW worth $120,000. In total, $196,000 worth of property was stolen. At about 9.20am on Saturday 19 October, Strike Force Trident officers saw the stolen BMW on Chung Wah Terrace Palmerston. A short pursuit ensued which was terminated for safety reasons. About an hour later, the vehicle was reported abandoned near the Casuarina Shopping Centre. A short time later, Police Beat officers from the Casuarina Shopping Centre Police Beat located the two boys walking about the Casuarina Shopping Centre; they were both arrested. Strike Force Trident officers investigated the unlawful entries and other associated offences; their investigations resulted in the recovery of about $160,000 worth of the stolen property and two boys being remanded in custody, charged with a total of 54 offences between them. Investigations are continuing and further arrests and the recovery of stolen property is anticipated.
