YUGUDA, MU’AZU, FCT MINISTER SET TO CLASH OVER BAUCHI - TopicsExpress

YUGUDA, MU’AZU, FCT MINISTER SET TO CLASH OVER BAUCHI GUBER Four top leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Bauchi State, are set to clash over who becomes the flag bearer of the party in the state. Bauchi State governor, Mallam Isa Yuguda, PDP national chairman, Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu, Deputy Senate Leader, Abdul Ahmed Ningi and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed are said to be having individual plans that are at variance with one another. Recent pointers indicate that both Yuguda and Mu’azu differ on their choice of who should be the PDP flag bearer, while Ningi and the FCT minister, are personally interested in contesting the seat. Indications emerged last week that Yuguda may likely anoint former minister of health, Dr. Ali Pate from Bauchi central Senatorial district while Mua’azu may support either his former Secretary to the State Government, Umar Nadada, or his former Aide de Camp, Ibrahim Makama. Yuguda and Pate were turbaned last month as Dan’isan Misau and Cigarin Misau respectively at an event which heightened suspicion that the duo may be working on something. A reception was organized at the Yankari Game Reserve a day before the turbanning, where speakers at the occasion extolled the qualities of Dr Pate, describing him as an honest, exemplary leader, and detrabilised Nigerian recognized worldwide for his services to better the lives of humanity. Another source at the Government House Bauchi said Yuguda however has a fall back plan in the persons of his former SSG, Barrister Ahmed Ibrahim Dandija, or his commissioner of finance, Mahmud Maijama’a or his close friend, Dr. Musa Babayo, who is the chairman Tertiary Education Fund (TETFUND). Though Dr. Pate is yet to declare interest, sources say he has of late been attending political meetings both in the state and in Abuja. The fall back option for the PDP national chairman is said to be either his close friend, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dr. Mahmud Yayale Ahmed or Senator Baba Tela. The projection in Bauchi is that even if Yuguda and Muazu agree on a single candidate, the FCT minister and the Deputy Senate Leader whose posters are everywhere in the state, will not concede and will do all to run against the candidate. When contacted Personal Assistant to Mu’azu -Kabiru Ilela Mu’azu has no anointed candidate, and that the PDP national chairman has said whoever is going to contest any position must come through democratic process. Deputy chief Press Secretary to Governor Isa Yuguda, Mallam Danlami Baban Takko, when contaced, also insisted that Yuguda has no anointed candidate.
