YUMA, Colo. - A 16-year-old Yuma High School student was shot and killed Monday but the sheriffs office says there is no threat to the community. Yuma Police received the shooting call at 11:58 a.m. at a location near Yuma High School. The Yuma County Sheriffs Office is assisting the police department and has confirmed that Jaden Rahm … has died, a 3:30 p.m. press release stated. The incident happened off school grounds, south of the high school on S. Albany Street. The sheriffs office said there is still some forensic evidence to be processed and an autopsy to be performed, but the evidence points to this being a tragic accident. Reports indicate there were four males inside a vehicle over the lunch hour when a bird hunting shotgun that was inside the vehicle went off and struck Jaden. The other three occupants in the vehicle are not considered suspects, authorities said. Rahm was a sophomore at the school and played varsity baseball as a freshman in 2013-14. Counseling services are being offered to students and families and will continue to be made available for the foreseeable future.
