Yall, I understand the need for visibility, as well as the fact - TopicsExpress

Yall, I understand the need for visibility, as well as the fact that the stories that matter for People of Color are often overlooked by the mainstream media and must be circulated by social media. I am very much here for that, and I believe that internet activism is the best way to make the stories of Michael Brown and others like him heard. That said... I am respectfully asking that you do not post pictures of this dead childs body publicly on your Facebook timeline - or, if you do choose to, please create a filter to remove me from the viewing audience. I am more than willing to have a discussion about the ways in which the criminal justice system in our country has gone rogue (or, not really, but whatever) and targets PoC- specifically Black men - with unnecessary force and violence. Im willing to talk about the changes that need to take place in the criminal justice system as well as the prison industrial complex. But my spirit cannot take seeing any more dead bodies on my timeline. This extends to Michael Brown, the bodies of the children of Gaza, recycled images of Emmett Till and Trayvon Martin... Im not asking you to censor yourself, Im just asking you to not share these images with me. Thank you in advance for understanding - Ashe.
