Yall know that I really prefer dogs to cats, but please, these babies really, really deserve a chance for families. Their adoption fees are already sponsored, they just need homes without other felines. We can only afford to continue boarding for the mom and babies through this weekend. Mom (Maisy) is only 6 months old. She is spayed, current on shots and microchipped. Super sweet gal. Her babies are all current on shots and microchipped, and their spays/neuters paid for. Cmon, everyone knows the Internet loves kittens. Now we need you to prove it. coastalpetrescue.org/adopt The kittens and their mom have been diagnosed with Calicivirus and have received treatment through our tending veterinarian, Dr. Brandy Bragg at the Animal Hospital at Rice Hope in Port Wentworth, GA. Calici is one of two viruses responsible for most upper respiratory infections, or “kitty colds,” in cats. It is commonly found in cats that have been housed in a shelter, as these were prior to their arrival at Coastal Pet Rescue. Cats that have been infected with calicivirus can become lifelong carriers. This does not mean that they are contagious or symptomatic all of the time. If the virus was to become active again their symptoms would be similar to the Flu and can include a runny nose, sneezing, lethargy, a fever, achy joints and disinterest in food. Barring any stress, it is possible that once adopted, the pet may never show signs of Calici again. However, they cannot go to a home with other cats that have never been diagnosed with Calici because of their potential to carry the virus.
