Yall were right, its on GMA today as well! And I have to say, its so strange being a real live person reading comments from hundreds of random strangers and wondering whether or not I should respond. I wish people knew the story behind everything as well as many of you do. By just watching the 15 second clip, you may not realize that #minispraypal 2.0 was born weighing under 2 pounds which resulted in his developmental delays, visual impairment, and profound hearing loss. You wouldnt know from this clip that he just came off his oxygen THIS MONTH and still wears it at night. You wouldnt know that we TRIED hearing aids and they didnt work because he is profoundly deaf in both ears. And you also would have no way of knowing that we ARE trying to teach him sign language (and learn it ourselves) so that he can have every opportunity to communicate with us. I truly appreciate all of the positive comments, even the ones that mention that they hope we are teaching him sign language in addition to the CIs, because I get it. You wouldnt know from the video that we are, and its totally fair to ask. But for the people who are bashing this technology and saying VERY hurtful things about the choices we have made for our son as his parents who want nothing but the very best for him, I have to say that the awareness youre trying to raise? Youre doing it wrong. I wish nothing but the best for you and I hope that you can find a more positive way to get your message across because I get that, too. But we ARE real people, Im a REAL mom, and seeing this smile on my sons face and hearing him giggle when he hears my voice is a choice Id make a million times over. Because he is HAPPY. #gettingoffmysoapbox
