Yap To Host 20th Micronesian Chief Executives Summit The 20th Micronesian Chief Executives’ Summit (MCES) is scheduled to be held in the State of Yap, Federated States of Micronesia during the first week of June, 2014. Participants in the 20th MCES from the region will be arriving in Yap early Wednesday morning on June 4, 2014. The MCES is comprised of the chief executives from the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), Guam, the Republic of Palau (RoP), the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI), the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) and its States of Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Yap. The Presidents attending the 20th MCES include H.E Emanuel Mori, President of the Federated States of Micronesia, and H.E Tommy Remengesau, Jr., President of the Republic of Palau. Representing their respective chief executives are: The Hon. David Kabua, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of the Marshall Islands; Madam Telo T. Taitague, Special Assistant, External Affairs Advisor to the Governor of Guam, and; Madam Esther Fleming, Special Assistant for Administration to the Governor, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. The Governors of the Micronesian federation will also attend: The Hon. Lyndon Jackson, Governor of the State of Kosrae; The Hon. John Ehsa, Governor of the State of Pohnpei; The Hon. Johnson Elimo, Governor of the State of Chuuk, and; The Hon. Sebastian Anefal, Governor of the State of Yap. The Summit, which will take place from the 4th to 6th of June, 2014, will also involve top officials from the participating governments who will be assisting the chief executives during the course of the discussions. During the three days of Summit, the VIPs, along with their delegations, will focus their discussions on a wide range of issues ranging from environment to health, tourism and transportation, and so forth. At the end the executives will endorse agreements on coordination and implementation of regional strategies, all for the betterment and welfare of the people of the Micronesian region. As part of the effort in making the 20th MCES a success, the Organizing Committee has arranged several events and activities for the visiting delegations, so they may enjoy their time while in Yap. Meantime, the Organizing Committee is seeking assistance and support from both the private and the public sectors during the whole week from the 4th to 8th of June, 2014, especially for the events and activities planned for the 20th MCES. The Committee is basically requesting the assistance of the public in the form of donations, contributions or sponsorship to ensure a successful hosting of the Summit. All donations, contributions or sponsorship pledge may be directed to the 20th MCES Organizing Committee, the Office of the Governor. For logistic and planning purposes, any assistance would be very much appreciated by June 2nd, 2014. In addition, donations, contributions or sponsorship pledge will be recorded and be made known in the 20th MCES literature and webpage.
