Yarab Tso Yarab tso is a beautiful lake in nubra valley which falls under the graticule expanse of 34 degree N latitude to 77 degree E longitude. Situated at an altitude of about 3168m above sea level, it is bounded by rugged mountain ranges on either side and with villages such as Murgi and Tirisha to be more specific. Though the lake is not so popular as its other counterparts in the Changthang plateau, it is of geat religious significance. Geographically, it is a glacial lake surrounded by medium height hills in a nearly circular pattern. Since the lake is enclosed in itself, it has no source of recharge other than precipitation and groundwater aquifers. It can also be speculated that the lake is a reminiscent of nubra river which has its origin from the Siachen glacier. Due to the gradual decrease in the volume of nubra river it might came into being. The nubra river follows its valley path on the west of the lake in small streams like veins, criss crossing the whole area turning it into a muddy plain. There are patches of vegetation on its northern side. The lake is approachable via vehicles and it also takes few minutes hike on steep slope of the adjoining hills. It is a solitary lake much appreciated by the solitude seekers.
