Yarmouth Police Investigate Fatal Crash in South Yarmouth On Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 2:05PM the Yarmouth Police and Fire Departments responded to 450 Station Avenue in South Yarmouth regarding a three vehicle crash with injuries. Upon arrival at the scene, Officers found the drivers of each single occupant vehicle injured. One of the drivers, Robert R. Froleiks age 79 of 21 Bent Bluff Lane in Yarmouthport; operating a 2008 Chevrolet Impala was in apparent cardiac arrest. Members of the Yarmouth Fire Department provided emergency life support and transported him to Cape Cod Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced deceased. The two other operators, Juliette A. Moroney age 21 of 20 Powderhorn Way in Sandwich and Jacqueline R. Bragdon age 39 of 96 Algonquin Avenue in Mashpee were also transported to Cape Cod Hospital suffering from non-life threatening injuries. The initial investigation indicates that Mr. Froleiks was travelling southbound on Station Avenue and suddenly veered into the oncoming northbound lane at a high rate of speed and collided with the two other vehicles. It is possible that Mr. Froleiks suffered some type of medical emergency prior to the crash. The Massachusetts State Police as well as Yarmouth Division of Natural Resources Officers assisted in traffic control as the roadway was closed for approximately two hours. Members of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Unit assisted in evidence collection and members of the Barnstable Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit are assisting the Yarmouth Police Department with the ongoing investigation. When the investigation is complete, additional information may be released at a future date. This media release was prepared and distributed by Yarmouth Police Department Deputy Chief of Police Steven G. Xiarhos 508-775-0445 extension 2150 or [email protected]
