Yay, a milestone! Our Great Pyrenees, Bella, has from the day we got her had no recall, i.e., doesnt come when called. Its not something GPs do easily; theyre livestock guard dogs and bred to be fairly independent. Whenever Bella has gotten loose, she goes walkabout. She doesnt run away, she just heads out for a jaunt, and no amount of calling has availed in the past. Ive been working with her on a long line, and shes gotten good at coming when I call her on the line. This morning came the acid test. Bella slipped out of Susannas grasp! We did the only thing we could do - we tried to recall her. And Bella came back! We showered her with praise, kisses, pets. This is HUGE.
