Yay or Nay? For myself, I only studied in local universities (MMU and UTM) so i dont have the capability to really compare whether there is a huge difference between studying local and overseas. I do understand that by sending our students there they can learn other cultures, have a good connections in other parts of the world and many other beneficial things. But based on the article they say that by not sending five undergraduates overseas and the country can bring a brilliant lecturer/professor over for one or two semesters or for the whole academic year. You would benefit hundreds of students in Malaysia pursuing studies in local universities Some benefits that i can see here is that : 1) More Malaysians can benefit because the oversea professor can teach a whole class full of Malaysian. 2) Can improve the standard of the university which can attract more oversea students to come to study in Malaysia that can potentially also help Malaysias economy. Maybe someone who has studied both overseas and also in the local university might have a better insight on this.
