Yeah, I remember getting a thorough terror screening at David Ben - TopicsExpress

Yeah, I remember getting a thorough terror screening at David Ben Gurion airport in 1992. Left kind of an impression. I remember the screening when I attended a Salman Rushdie reading in England in the mid-90s. Ive been in a small room with the President and Vice President of the United States and have done security of equal sophistication around such personages as the Dalai Lama, and a handful of US Governors. Our airports remain a joke, and this is a tragicomic but ultimately theatrical response to the problem basically none of our airports ever solved: that we still pack everybody into a densely populated space with a bottleneck entirely outside all layers of security, and we profile objects and materials rather than just talk to people via three to five easy questions, and actual human eye-contact. Yknow, like the rest of the world? You ever fly to those places and notice how, despite many of them having their own long-term terrorist threats, their airports do not suck?
