Year 8 Students DT At this point in the KS3 programme of Design & Technology, we feel it is appropriate to narrow down the areas of Design & Technology that students study. By offering only two areas of study in Year 9 it enables students to spend more time in their preferred areas, learning more complex skills and knowledge. This is good preparation for KS4 where if they wish to take Design & Technology at GCSE they spend two years studying their chosen subject. We request that you discuss the option choices with your child at home and help them to make the right decisions. The areas to choose from are: Resistant Materials Electronic Products Textile Technology Graphic Products Food Technology Each student is asked to complete the Survey on the VLE and let us know their top three choices in order of preference. The survey is very quick and easy to follow. Students are asked to make three choices so we can form the groups for next year. We try very hard to accommodate students in their first two choices but occasionally we have to use the third choice to ensure a balance of numbers in the groups.
