Year-end-summary: I am overwhelmed by how great 2014 has been. We brought in the New Year, and Kevins 30th birthday, in Los Angeles with Patrick Fromm, Susan Kemp, and Sarah Meyers, and spent an entire week relaxing in South Beach with Dan Parker. We spent a weekend in Baltimore with Rachael North and Sam Hickey - they taught us how to pick crabs and drink Natty Boh. Friends: if we didnt see you this year, trust me - youre on the travel-list for 2015. This was my first year being a board member of our neighborhood association, and Ive been tricked into Vice President for 2015-16. Our association (with the help of many others) won the fight to keep a Dollar General from inhabiting the intersection of several of our precious neighborhoods that take great pride in our small, creative, one-of-a-kind local businesses - and I have never been more proud. My baby sister, Sam White Powell, had a baby boy, and my heart has forever changed. This was the fifth year without our mom, and I think that this has been a turning point in my acceptance of this. On top of everything else, there are memories of all our new St. Louis traditions - volleyball with Emily Stallone Coleman, Cameron Coleman, Matthew Ellis, and Lindsey Schneider, Mardi Gras, the Gateway Cup Bike Races, Friendsgiving, Friendsmas, and the newest of traditions, LouFest. I have read at least a dozen books (by far the most since high school), and have committed to making myself more knowledgeable on what is happening in our country - I urge everyone to do the same. I have never been so enthusiastic to begin a new year, and to make it even better than the last.
