Years ago I heard a Thom hartmanns Conversations with Great Minds interview with Bernard Leiter and Jacquelin Dunne. It was a light bulb moment for me in terms of finding ways to keep corporations and big businesses at a marginal distance from our local economy. BASICALLY: Dayton would develop a local currency for local business that would be backed by federal currency. Pump say 5 million into this local currency and allow the currency to fuel local contractors, tech, maintenance etc. The local currency could initially extend to services but eventually fuel urban development 21st century renovations, green initiatives etc. Anyhoo, I found it an enlightening thought, and needed to share.... huffingtonpost/jacqui-dunne/rethinking-money_b_2268797.html
