Years ago this city boy from back East on the geographical team come through and was relieved of his duties due West of Oblong best as I can recollect when he tried to name the lower end of the North Fork River The Salad Fork Heard he got rode out of town on a rail and the last anybody heard of him they was told he obtained gainful employment at some big ranch near Dallas by helping name it Southfork. Said he werent taking any more chances at trying to inject culture into an area that didnt appreciate it like that bunch that run him off up Southern Illinois way.
