Yee-Shin Huang and I got the honor of marching in the Seattle - TopicsExpress

Yee-Shin Huang and I got the honor of marching in the Seattle PRIDE Parade with new Seattle Police Department Chief Kathleen OToole today. She was fantastic! Handing out rainbow colored wrist bands, high-fiving the spectators, answers peoples questions and really listening to their concerns. BIG THANKS to SPD Officer Sina Ebinger for inviting Social Outreach Seattle (SOSea) to march with the department. SOSea has worked with the department for well over a year doing a lot of behind the scenes work as well as some visible things as well (candlelight vigils, community meetings, NO ONE WALKS ALONE poster awareness project, and more) so it felt really good to have that public acknowledgment from the department. It was great to see, at one point, Seattle Mayor Ed Murray walking with OToole also. SOSea is an honest partner with SPD; we are in no way a token for any rhetoric or anything like that. As you can see from my comments in this news report by Natasha Chen, we keep it real while remaining friends of the department. If you want to see change and you want to see your neighborhood improve then work together, not against each other, and get involved. At SOSea we believe that OUR NEIGHBORHOODS BELONG TO US, NOT CRIME. Thank you to everyone that cheered us on along the way. bcove.me/w1tp1u6b
