Yeezus Review is here! 4.5/5 Kanye West has really outdone himself with Yeezus. Despite his tabloid grabbing antics and narcissism, Kanye West continues to push his genre’s boundaries. On Sight sounds like something out of Nine Inch Nails Downward Spiral album, virtually unrecognizeable from the College Dropout days. The album is tirelessly relentless, each song goes hard (and each harder than the last) so much that it is too much to listen at once. In addition, Yeezy’s crazy has really come out in this album and his in-your-face attitude shines brighter than any other album out there. Some may call him arrogant and annoying and you can agree but one thing he isn’t is conventional and tame. Not all of the songs are commercially viable but New Slaves is rap’s call to the instabilitiy of the riots in Turkey, Sweden, and Brazil. Yeezus may not be the best album of 2013 but it is the most creative and electrifying. Shocking lyrics such as “putting my fist in her mouth like a civil right sign” in I’m In It or the harsh reality of racism in New Slaves and Black Skinhead sets Kanye way beyond anything he’s done before. “Yeezus” is broadcasting straight out of that black hole. Best songs: On Sight, New Slaves, Black Skinhead, I’m In It
