Yellow Jackets are groung nesting wasps. They occasionally become a problem in outdoor living areas. If you are faced with this problem, observe them and try to find their nest. Then take a gallon or two of water and add the appropriate amount of an insecticide like Sevin. Since wasps are less active and less aggresive in the evening and are usually in the nest, pour the solution in the hole, covering it quickly with a rock or board. That should take care of the problem by morning. From an article in Georgia Gardening Magazine July/August issue.
