Yep, its that time of the year again. We have pink stuff all over the place. NFL, WWE, gas stations, etc. Breast cancer awareness month. I have personally known people who died from this disease. I know others who have survived. No, I am not a woman, but yes this is an important topic to me. I would love to see more than just awareness. I want to see ACTION. So much of this pink ribbon stuff is garbage. It is a marketing gimmick to sell more product. Beauty and food products with cancer causing ingredients are sold with pink ribbons on them. That is the definition of hypocrisy. If those organizations cared about breast cancer they would use the raised funds to remove the toxic chemicals from their products. Others cap their total maximum donations regardless of sales and the marketing just increases their bottom dollar. Organizations for breast cancer research pay executives millions of dollars from these donations rather than paying for research. Susan G Komen CEO Nancy Brinker was making $684,000. Quite a lot for a non-profit organization. Please dont think I dont care about women who are suffering with this. I very much do care. I just want to get you to think and be aware of what you are donating to. Would your $20 being donated to an organization like Susan G Komen be better spent buying food and making a healthy meal for a neighbor going through cancer treatment? Many times we like to just take the easy way out and feel like we did something. A $20 donation shows on our check registry. A donation of time and the same amount of money to help out someone dealing with breast cancer will show on their faces and in their life. thinkbeforeyoupink.org/?page_id=13
