Yes, I know Im WAY behind the pack, as usual. MONTHS later, I finally broke down and watched this. Its pretty much a patchwork quilt of THE EXORCIST, THE AMITYVILLE HORROR and every other haunted house/possession movie you can think of - including the ones that director James Wan created with producing partner Leigh Whannell, served in a PG-13 glaze. Having said that, though, its old-school horror, served up the classic way that fans of the movies from way back enjoy it. Performances are solid all round, and the creeps - and a couple of jumps - are paced nicely, even if you dont scare easily. Finally, Id have to say that I liked this one even better than the INSIDIOUS sequel, so theres that. But if you want a movie that terrifies more than just satisfies, you may want to keep looking.
