Yes! Just discovered GPU rendering for volumetrics on cycles! It is made possible by using an unofficial build found here: https://developer.blender.org/rB5fefc84783555152c0bb924b3f509c7ec8f1a04d I just completed a rendering test, I did a render speed test on my hardware of the posted image. Results below: 1920X1080P @ 1000 samples (GPU): 3 minutes, 12 seconds. 1920X1080P @ 1000 samples (CPU): 17 minutes, 21 seconds. --- 1280X720P @ 250 samples (GPU): 22 seconds 1280X720P @ 250 samples (CPU): 1 minute, 54 seconds. There was an approximate 5.3X increase in efficiency on the GPU. To put that into perspective, it took 12 hours to create an animation with the assets shown in the picture. On the GPU it will only take just over 2 hours instead. This allows me to double the resolution, or quadruple the amount of samples and render in the same amount of time. Definitely happy right now! Specs: GPU: Two 760 Nvidia GPUs. 2GB VRAM each CPU: i7 3770 (Non-K) @ 3.8GHZ. 4 cores/8 threads. RAM: 16GB 2133 MHZ HyperX RAM (Doesnt make much of a difference, except for build times on CPU) I highly recommend picking up this build for all GPU users out there who are working with volumetrics. I dont know how stable it is but it is yet to crash for me working with my two 760s!
