Yes.The whole thing was quite amazing. Local people rallied round the family. The power of social media really showed. there was a facebook page.Over 1000 people signed a petition. Some one found me through a letter to the editor on that councils(the other end of the island) policy towards dogs and a submission on animal welfare bill both written about a year ago. Apparently dog rangers stood on a car to overlook a high fence on to this familys property. they got into a conflict with a 14 year old boy. Walked on the property. The conflict escalated a great deal to violence.They took the dog and nothing was really heard about it. There may or not have been a blitz on dogs in that particular area.We started speaking to the councillors and writing to the mayor. At the start the response was we cant do much about it because its going to court but then all of a sudden he was freed.Talk about give a dog or an area a bad name. I was referred to as the rev.I wasnt even wearing a dog collar.A nice way of working with people.Obviously a lot to think about in terms of local communities working together against overbearing authorities, becoming empowered and how what was at heart just about a boy and a dog became about larger things that were mapped onto this to the detriment of the dog and the family.
