Yes, defying all probability, I have come over to the dark side and gotten a smartphone. I am replacing my Samsung AliasII, which was the best flip/feature phone on the planet...It served me well for many years. I decided to give Republic Wireless a chance to woo me with their dirt cheap calling plan....So far, it has been fantastic. They partner with Sprint, and with Verizon as a (free) roaming partner....Unlimited calling, text and 3G data for $25 a month ($40 if you want 4G data, You can get a $10 plan if you want slow data). What is the catch? Well, you pay for the phone ($299) and whenever you are in range of an open wifi, it uses that instead of the cell. Operation is seamless and they ported my number at no charge...They seem to really want to succeed. As for the Moto X, I could not love it more, and this is from someone who has used practically every tablet on the market.....It is everything you would want a Phablet to be....And Google Now, which beats the heck out of SIRI, is as responsive as you would expect from someone who built the phone and the software..... What is the icing on the cake? It is made in the USA by muricans...
