Yes, it is long overdue but I finally got the book trailer finished for “There is a Bear in my Bedroom”. It stars the voice of my husband Richard and my one of my granddaughters. The trailer gives you a delightful taste of the book’s artwork and story. It is very fun beginner reading book that has quite a twist at the end for the main character named Nate. It has an exacting blend of words and pictures within the story that will encourage children to read with you or by themselves. I am feverishly working on a companion activity-work book with the characters in the story that will support reading literacy, story sequencing, and hand eye coordination. Some of the activities are Bear Bingo, a card game on manners, simple word search, puzzles and so much more. All with the goal of creating literacy through the ability of retelling the story and word associations that relate to the story. I have also developed in this activity book a means for your child to increase their imagination and inventiveness through using the characters to create their own story of Nate, Angie, and Chuck the Bear. There are many opportunities for you to increase your child’s reading skills that coincide with reading readiness and build on the Common Core Standards in education that are being introduced into the school systems nationwide. But more importantly the activity book will give you the tools that will encourage your child to fall in love with reading. I am working hard to get the activities book out in November of 2014.
