Yes, it was not a GOODBYE---but a warm beginning actually. Folks virtually meet Charlie...though she is not on facebook! Charlie taught for 41 years. (She still tutors privately!) She has never been inside our shop because she can not make it up the three steps at our door! (but from the first second I met her she has been in a special chamber in my heart!) When you run a bookshop ..... even though the saying suggests not to judge a book by its cover....you CAN know what people were like by the types or materials they bring in your shop. Especially if it is not a box of books, but rather nearly all of someones personal library. Charlie taught every single grade, and nearly every single subject (I think she did not teach band!) She was a guidance counselor for twenty of those forty plus years....and she believed whole-heartedly in bibliotheraphy. She moved from a house to a much, much smaller apartment, and was mainly concerned that her books would go to those who could use them, to continue on the valuable work/service she devoted her life towards. I could not tell you the color of her eyes....only that they are small but when you look you see only soft, warm, glowing, inviting light much like the late artist Thomas Kincade painted. From the first two sentence exchange with her you are rest assured that she is your dearest aunt or grandma or older sister. She must surely have been the nearest to perfect or pure guidance counselor ever in the world.....there is not a judgemental anything in her crystal clear soul.....only, only love for all. I do not believe she ever could have truly made any money for she must have only barely broken even with all that she invested in books. Gorgeous books.........well-written books......profoundly helpful books. She is just fulfilled and peaceful.....and I know it has everything to do with her priorities in life. Always that woman put others first. Her nephew assured me that I was spot on....and that hundreds of others express the same things about her. Charlie... #99 has trusted me from the get-go implicitly, to price her items and do as I see fit with whatever. She is joining me in the online sales journey...Some of her books are out of print or very vintage treasures....and some are brand spickin new....but I will tell you that every book she every owned was purchased to specifically help that one or many. When I grow up...I want to be a fraction as humble, and sweet.I want to always esteem people and relationships above all else.I want to make a portion of differences in the world such as the ones she made for the ones that had suffered or struggled or sauntered or sped along. I want to be a hearer and a healer like Charlie. I am inspired and encouraged by her. Thank you Lord, that it was NOT GOOD-BYE in this instance...Charlie answers to that place that only one person ever was able in such a soulful capacity.... my grandma...... Sooo HELLO AGENT 99 (agent just sounds so much better as a beacon on this new mission) --Ha! and no she is NOT on FB!!
