Yes, it’s been almost two months since you’ve heard about any Hero Dogs adventures from me. But there’s a reason… (I gave you a brief update in September but here’s the whole story.) Question: How many steps can a Hero Dog-in-training jump over in one leap while chasing a ball? Answer: One less than I tried (but I’ve always been an over-achiever). So, long story short – I hurt my leg pretty bad. Like any good Navy SEAL I tried to work through the pain, but Dr. Marcie and Jennifer weren’t having any of that. Now, after 8 weeks of kennel rest (yuck!), limited exercise, no stairs, and three sets of x-rays, I’m happy to say that Hero Dogs LT Michael P. Murphy is back in the game! So I really haven’t gone on any outings or got to run and play or train with the other dogs. But Jamie and I did lots of low impact training (mostly puzzles and the like) and now I can run and play to my heart’s content. Truthfully, while I would have preferred to come off limited duty earlier, the timing was pretty cool. There was a Halloween party https://flickr/photos/hero-dogs/sets/72157646834585664/ at Hero Dogs which felt like it was just to welcome me back. But then Jamie dressed me up like a bumble bee which didn’t seem fitting for a Navy SEAL. I did feel better when she dressed Java up like a flower. So that’s it for now. My calendar for November is filling up quickly so I’m sure I’ll have much more to tell you next month. Murph On!
