Yes, the rollout of the website was a inexcusable debacle and highlights the lack of wisdom of putting pols in charge of overseeing system design to implement a torturous but well-intentioned law). But a change in health care provision was needed in this country, full stop, poor website rollout or not. And I still feel that the poison pill of primarily Red States who havent set up their own exchanges led to the rollout and overwhelming crush of applicants to the Federal exchange being much worse than it needed to be. And I still get notes from Repub friends about bureaucratic death panels; to those folks, I ask, why are these necessarily worse than insurance company death panels that set and enforce lifetime or eligibility insurance benefits without political liability or a worry of being removed from their position (when they are doing their job of maximizing company profits), aside from the fact that one is private and the other isnt?
