Yes, we have had monsters in the past who tortured...we could blame Hitler for example... we could point at the horrors the Japanese inflicted on prisoners... we could look the other way at isolated incidents among our own, supposedly enlightened people... George Orwell called it doublespeak --our disgusting term for torture merely enhanced interrogation . We are losing our way. We could have been the guiding light for nations, that torch in Lady Libertys hand could have meant liberty and justice for all. Instead, I find myself swamped with tears of horror and sorrow for what we have become, for what we allow to occur, for the fact that we can sleep in our beds tonight without nightmares. There is a price to pay for mans inhumanity to man. If all who feel and care are wiped from the face of the earth, leaving only mindless, soul-gutted slaves to serve the rich, in a world poisoned inside and out by unmitigated greed and evil, let those who feel and care nevertheless cry out to the universe, shout out our horror, and sprinkle the nations with our tears of sorrow, for what we could have been, what we hoped to be, what we should have been. The creatures who do not resist this evil should not call themselves human beings. What will you do, when the BootJacks come for you?
