Yesterday -- and TODAY On Friday night there was a little thing (that will grow!) called Fourth Friday. LOOKING backwards: Art has always been a part of life in Kittery, but on Friday night the town made a point of letting their neighbors know about it by inviting folks into the heart of the Foreside section with something called 4th Friday . . . the first of an ongoing monthly event designed to show off a growing number of art galleries. We scurried around town with camera and notebook, hitting Art on the Hill first to see Bess Cutler, Anne Scheer, Pamela duLong Williams, Paula Boxer, Cheri Dennett and Kathy Morrissey, each with studios filled with exquisite artwork. Then, we wandered off to see the newly opened (but NOT officially opened) Moira Walsh Gallery, Amelia Davis Folk and a quick look inside The Dance Hall. Speaking with the Dance Halls Drika Overton, we mentioned this Fourth Friday event might draw people from Portsmouth over to see that we had art in Kittery, and she said, Yes, they can cross the bridge to Brigadoon . . . and they wont vanish. After The Dance Hall, there was one final stop at Just Us Chickens, a craft store just across the road from the Rite Aid pharmacy. But lets skip back a few steps to fill in the blanks on the three photos here: The first is a painting by Pamela duLong Williams and is called Parasols 2; next is a painting by Kathy Morrissey called Three Graces at the Louvre; while the last is a hastily arranged spread of art on the nearly barren walls of the Moira Walsh Gallery. The Walsh Gallery will officially open on May 31st with an Opening and Artist Reception for Thaddeus Radell from 5 to 7 p.m. That show will be in place through June 29th. Oh, we have other photos, and will be sharing them as well. But, for an overall view of the Fourth Friday event, check this out: calendar.mainetoday/event/32610-kittery-4th-friday
