Yesterday (10 September) the sun produced a major eruption that was almost directly facing the Earth. A CME (coronal mass ejection) was released and is hurling in space in our direction! Some strong auroras are expected before the weekend in high latitudes, and there is a big chance for a geomagnetic storm at lower latitudes as well! in Europe, people from a line St Petersburg - Helsinki - Stockholm - Oslo should definitely get ready for a nice display, and possibly even further south!
