Yesterday Aug 10, we were lucky enough to see a rare event. Three Southern Resident Orcas: J39, J41 and J46 pummeling a harbour porpoise. The Southern Residents are salmon eaters and do not eat sea mammals It seemed like the porpoise tried to take some scraps as two orca were sharing a Chinook Salmon. Than the killer whales attention to the hapless porpoise where it proceded to get chased, tumbled, tossed and even held in the mouth for a good part of an hour. Porpoise lovers may find this intense to watch.
