Yesterday Gill was just doing her job as a Nurse Practitioner. But she identified something in a patient - which he was in denial about - that probably saved his life. She probably does this everyday :-) But I was inspired enough to write this about what happened.... 7 August 2013 LIFESAVER (Patient is P, Nurse is N) P: If there’s something not right with my world If I’m somehow not speaking a word If I am sat here just needing a nurse (N: “Don’t panic Just be calm”) P: If there is something that feels a bit wrong If the lion’s just a little less strong If I sit and I sit and I fear that it’s worse (N: “Don’t worry Just be calm”) P: I’ve been dealing with the shit That life has thrown me for a while I’ve lived every little bit And can’t muster up a smile But now it’s got too much And my body’s catching up I’ve fallen far too far How life opens up How life opens up a scar I need a lifesaver, lifesaver Because my life needs saving And I didn’t know at all I was heading for a fall I need a lifesaver Because my life needs saving And I dismissed it all Thank god she made that call N: If there’s something not right with your heart And panic is where you must start Then I’ll let your heart write its own autograph Keep looking I’ll nurse you If there is something that feels a bit wrong If the lion is a little less strong Then help me steer clear of the aftermath Keep talking I will nurse you I’ve seen this happen too many times A man says no to the stress of his life Never hears that bell Doesn’t know when it chimes Blind to the oncoming knife And your heart has had too much If you panic that’s enough?
