Yesterday I attended a the funeral of our departed friend Lucy in Chemoiben village,Bureti. After the funeral as I was travelling back to Kericho I made a stop over at Litein,at the Cheborgei stage near Posta. I spoke with the bodaboda operators and after much discussion they highlighted the following to be the key problems that affected them: 1.Poor roads-The Litein-Cheborgei road is in a dire state and is almost impassable whenever it rains.I was even shocked that what is referred to a stage is nothing but a dam. I travelled on that road for a few kilometres and for sure, this road should be fixed quickly and a lasting solution given. 2.The constant harassment by traffic officers on that poor road. The bodaboda operators really complained on how the traffic officers really frustrate them on the road. I was also priviledged to speak to some market traders who raised an issue on the opening of the already completed Litein Market. The traders bitterly complained on how they have had to suffer for long selling their wares along the roads where the coming of rain means instant close and end of business for that day yet they got bills and school fees to pay.To them the opening of the permanent market should be made urgent and addressed soonest. It is believed that what has stalled the opening of the market is the fighting on who is supposed to open the market. As the wrangles continue the poor traders continue suffering and the market continues getting old and unused.Btw the paint on the market has started getting worn out. I therefore urge all leaders from Bureti to act on these problems urgently.
