Yesterday I brought Transport Minister Claire Perry to Brighton, - TopicsExpress

Yesterday I brought Transport Minister Claire Perry to Brighton, to discuss local train services, and to push for improvements. During my meeting I raised the issues of increasing rail fares and the reliability of the service, a particular concern for Brightons many commuters. I also took the opportunity to call on the Minister to look into introducing WiFi connectivity on trains, to make the ticket machines more user friendly, so that the cheapest ticket is always offered to users, and pushed the need for flexible season tickets. Further points that were discussed included introducing monthly direct debit payments to pay for season tickets, so that the entire amount isnt required at one go, the need for rail companies to improve their delay re-pay services, and a move towards paper-less, more technologically advanced ticketing. The meeting was very useful, and I was pleased to be able to share the many concerns that my constituents have on these matters with the Minister directly. I hope that in response to this meeting, there will be a stronger push from the Government to the rail companies to improve on each of these matters, and that we will see considerable changes in the very near future.
