Yesterday I got a phone call from Veterans Affairs, Canberra, - TopicsExpress

Yesterday I got a phone call from Veterans Affairs, Canberra, asking if I would like to participate in an interview with Preston Campbell, of the Gold Coast Titans, to talk about Indigenous Veterans. Naturally I said yes. So today, myself and four other Indigenous veterans met together at the Currimbin RSL Cenotaph to talk about our experiences in the Australian Defence Force. As part of my interview, I talked about veteran suicide and re-assimilation into society. It was a truly great day of sharing our experiences, telling some great tales, reminiscing about other service personnel we knew, and learning about who else we knew and know. Some of my fathers best friends, who I greatly respected, were known to the other gentlemen, and even related to one through marriage! Another worked with my brother in the Air Force, knows my niece who is also in the Air Force and met my mother 10 years ago. Today was a great day. Love JJ and Naomi Enchong
