Yesterday I had a conversation with a nice elderly friend who was a No voter, as we spoke he advocated UKIP as the way forward. I was struck by the vast abyss that lay between us. He did listen as I suggested that the security/ Great Britain that he craved was an illusion that had been funded by the blood sweat tears of the different cultures that he now wished would go home... I was reminded that often friends in the UK have no real idea of what matters to us others whose ancestors paid for your schools and roads... I am posting this not to rub your face in it but to perhaps create an opportunity to identify with Nos. Its hard to swallow and wear that we are ever a part of others misery. In our case we Irish left many scars via missionaries. I know my friends will care that this happened to anyone... but what if I pointed the finger at you? Most of my No friends dont understand why Yess are pointing fingers xxx And please know that I totally understand why but my question is what will get us to a place of increasing the 45% quickest? What could I do to help you understand the past but bring us together as part of the solution? This may seem like I am grasping at straws but hearing his glib UKIP comments made me realize that there is a job to be done and bigger fish to fry xxx
