Yesterday I had a pretty busy day, and didnt get a chance to post anything about Destiny. Well, we all got it here at Gaming Corner, and we did play it, but not as much as we would have liked because we were all too damn busy. For starters, these pictures are of the Limited Edition and the super rare Ghost Edition. As you can see from the photos, the Ghost Edition is pretty much just the Limited Edition, but with a big fancy box and a little robot with Peter Dinklage trapped inside. As for the reason why its a series of photos and not an unboxing video, well, would you want to record and edit a video when you could be playing Destiny? So, on to my actual first impression of the game. I didnt play it anywhere as much as I would have liked to, so Ive really only tried a few story missions and some patrol missions in the Cosmodrome. The story missions seem fairly standard, simply involving moving from place to place killing everything, but thats what shooters are about, and despite its similarities to an MMO Destiny is still a shooter. Patrol missions just involve wandering around finding beacons, then being told to wander somewhere else and more kill enemies. Still fairly simple, and seems like it may get boring. Except that it didnt get boring. I know Ive only played for a day, so things could change, but the world seems interesting and the combat was fun, so I really didnt mind doing similar missions multiple times. Getting a bunch of new loot and sorting through it to find the best of everything is always fun, unless of course you dont like that kind of thing, in which case this may not be the best game for you. I liked it. Loot drops arent as crazy as games like Borderlands, where youre constantly filling up your storage and selling everything, but you do still get things fairly regularly. Joining friends or inviting them to join your fireteam is a simple and painless experience, even with the (no doubt large) amount of traffic on launch day everything still worked flawlessly. Well, not everything; Luke (one of our admins) got the white PS4 bundle and apparently PSN briefly shat itself and wouldnt let him sign in. So, that was our first day of Destiny, well post more when weve finished. The majority of content in this kind of game is always at the very end once youre fully levelled (or at least a very high level), so it may take a while for us to experience and review it, but well get there. -Reece
