Yesterday, I had fruitful discussions with religious leaders from the Muslim Community who are members of the Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM). It was a great honor to host these distinguished members of our society and talking to them is a sign of the dialogue which we experience daily in seeking to build among ourselves the bond of fraternity and cooperation for the good of our Mother Malawi. My Government truly appreciates the role played by the Muslim community in development of this country especially in education, health and social-economic sectors. We are committed to look into the issues raised during the meeting and together we shall find amicable solutions in the spirit of dialogue for peaceful co-existence in order for all citizens to enjoy the Freedoms that are in the Country’s constitution. My government understands that Religious freedom is not only a precious gift from God for those who have faith: it is a gift for each person, because it is the basic guarantee of every other expression of freedom. Religious freedom is a safeguard and contributes decisively to human fraternity. May God bless you all
