Yesterday I had my faith renewed in the way elections and due process should be handled. The way the opposing sides of the Scotland secession movement reacted to the vote, and the incredible voter turnout, and the lack of civil unrest, the willingness of a full 85 percent of the citizenry to stand in long lines to vote.... ALL OF IT, was, and is, an inspiration........ Then we have today...... In Manhattan a guy wondered why there was a line OVER FOUR CITY BLOCKS LONG, on the sidewalks of the city as he went to work today. Were they lined up, waiting for hours to vote in a referendum that had ramifications that could literally change their lives..... Were they in line for something really seriously life changing? NOOOOO, they were camped out in huge lines to get a damned new I-Phone. Wow, there goes my recently renewed faith in the human race. That sure was short lived huh? What does one do for a living, when they have the time to camp out for days just to gain an inch of screen size on an infernal smart phone? I sure am NOT making the connection here. It sure would be nice if one day after a year or two of ownership, Harley Davidson would decide to offer a free or deeply discounted upgrade, to a new model. NOW THAT IS A LINE I WOULD TAKE VACATION DAYS TO SIT AND WAIT IN FOR SURE!!
